Understanding Blood Glucose Levels and Gender

This is an atomic sagebrush Gender Swaying Library EXCLUSIVE! You can’t read this essay anywhere else. But if you have questions on blood glucose or any other aspect of natural gender selection (swaying) you can always find me at Gender Dreaming!!!

After the Trivers Willard Hypothesis, which you can read about HERE, the most important element of gender swaying to understand is blood glucose levels. Since blood glucose is kind of science-y sounding and to help our members who speak English as a second language we usually call this “blood sugar”.

–What IS blood sugar anyway?

You may have already guessed that it’s the amount of sugar in your blood. Not so much the amount per se, but the concentration. A greater concentration of sugar is called high blood sugar, a lower concentration is called low blood sugar. We have sugar in our blood that our body uses as fuel for its cells. It is NOT sucrose (which is the sugar in your sugar bowl) but it’s a different form of sugar called glucose that is especially good for fueling cells. We get glucose from eating carbohydrates (not just sugar, although sugar IS a carbohydrate). Carbohydrates, or carbs as we often call them, are things that are sweet and starchy like potatoes, bread, rice and other grains, pastry, pasta, fruits, sweet veggies like corn and beetroot and cassava. Even milk has carbs in it – the lactose that so many of us are intolerant of, is a kind of sugar. Carbs are the staple food of virtually all cultures around the world.

–Why does this matter for swaying?

Some very good research (really, the best research into gender ratio that we have, initiated by a researcher named Elissa Cameron) indicates that normal/high blood sugar sways blue, and lower blood sugar sways pink.

–So I should eat a bunch of sugar to have a boy?

No. PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT. Here’s where it gets confusing so if you have any questions please email me and I’ll all your questions on blood sugar or any other swaying subject!

The catch is that your body does NOT LIKE having high OR low blood sugar. It has mechanisms in place that quickly regulate both high and low blood sugar to return it to the normal range. So when we say “high” or “low” blood sugar we really aren’t talking about a number that we can measure on a meter – because that number is always changing – but instead a complex process by which your body has to work hard (for girls) or not work much at all (for boys) to keep your blood sugar in a normal range.

We’ll talk more about all that in a bit, but long story short – you don’t need to eat a bunch of sugar for a boy OR totally avoid it for a girl (unless you have PCOS, poor egg quality or insulin resistance). EATING sugar and BLOOD sugar are not the same thing. In fact, eating exclusively sweets can actually make you end up with low blood sugar as your body releases a large amount of insulin to lower your blood sugar into normal range.

–So you’re saying I can’t test my blood sugar to tell me if I’m in boy zone or girl zone?

That’s exactly what I’m saying. I do not want ANYONE to test their blood sugar for swaying. Let me repeat – I DO NOT want anyone to test their blood sugar for swaying, period, end of story. It doesn’t tell you anything worth knowing for your sway. Unless you need to track your blood sugar levels for health, don’t use a glucose monitor to test your blood sugar levels. Not only because we don’t even know that there IS a boy zone or girl zone (because it is changes in blood sugar levels overall, over the course of time that affect a sway, and NOT some temporarily measurable thing in any given moment in time), but also because everyone’s blood sugar naturally goes up after eating carbs, and drops between meals. This is a normal process and it happens to everyone, boy and girl mom alike.

We use the words “blood sugar” or “blood glucose” as shorthand to describe that process in which your body works to keep blood sugar in the range of normal. When we say “blood sugar” or “blood glucose” we are NOT talking the number on a monitor at any point in time. Your body wants normal blood sugar; if it is high, it lowers it, if it’s low, it raises it. It’s the process that sways somehow, not the number itself. Don’t test your blood sugar, ladies!

Pink swayers, it’s a bad idea to test your blood sugar levels because the more you monitor and track and think about swaying constantly, the more “control freaky” you get and that sways blue, hugely. Don’t do it “just in case”, don’t do it “to see if your sway is working”. It doesn’t tell you anything and it will actively undermine your sway by making you obsess over those meaningless numbers on a screen. Plus, it’s impossible to keep your blood sugar below normal for long periods of time. Your body is not meant to have low blood sugar constantly and needs sugar to fuel cells. Again, we are NOT talking about measurably low blood sugar, we are talking about a complicated process in which your body keeps blood sugar in a normal range. You can have your blood sugar number be in normal range when you test it and still have what we call for swaying purposes, “low blood sugar”, because your body had to raise your blood sugar into a normal range from being low. It’s the process, not the number itself.

Blue swayers, it’s a bad idea to test your blood sugar levels because it is extremely unhealthy to have constantly high blood sugar levels. I DO NOT WANT any blue swayer actually trying to elevate their blood sugar levels out of the range of normal ever ever EVER. It can make you sick to do that, both now and in the future by causing wear and tear on your body that will later manifest as heart disease or cancer. Constantly high blood sugar is not what we’re talking about when we say “high blood sugar”. We are talking about a complicated process in which your body keeps blood sugar in a normal range without having a lot of low blood sugar crashes. You can have what we call for swaying “high blood sugar” because your body had to lower blood sugar into a normal range from being high OR didn’t have to do anything at all to keep it normal, rather than having to raise it from low. It’s the process that sways, not the number itself.

Nor do I want you guys to measure your blood sugar to be sure it’s “steady”. Steady, never changing blood sugar levels is not what we’re trying to do for either pink OR blue because it’s freaking impossible! Please don’t worry about every small fluctuation in blood sugar levels. Again, this is not a measurable number on a glucose meter that we’re going for here…it’s simply not possible to have that level of control over one’s blood sugar levels!

–Should I totally avoid sugar to get a girl then? I want my blood sugar low, right?

AND

–I heard that eating sugar makes you acidic, so I should avoid it for a boy, right?

Now let’s talk about the process by which blood sugar is regulated. EVERYONE’S blood sugar goes up after eating anything with carbs in it, even a very small amount of carbs. So if you eat a massive steak with only a small amount of barbeque sauce on it, your blood sugar will still rise. Only if you eat pure protein or pure fat with NO carbs with it at all, will your blood sugar stay down…and even then, your body has natural mechanisms that will raise blood sugar at certain times of day, such as in the morning, when your body needs those carbs in your blood for energy.

Thus, it is IMPOSSIBLE to totally avoid rises and drops in blood sugar. Even if you don’t eat, your body has the ability to raise blood sugar levels all on its own! And it will, because the human body is not meant to have low or high blood sugar, it’s meant to have normal blood sugar.

That having been said, the main thing that elevates your blood sugar is eating carbs (anything that tastes sweet or starchy like sugar, flour and other grains, potatoes and sweet potatoes, fruits, and sweet tasting veg like corn and beetroot). As carbs are digested they enter your bloodstream and cause sugar levels to rise – sometimes quite high, if you’ve eaten pure carbs (fiber, protein, and fat mitigate these sudden high rises and can both slow down the glucose peak and make it not go quite as high as it would otherwise). Then, because your body doesn’t like having high blood sugar, it then releases a burst of insulin. Insulin is a hormone that allows the sugar in your blood to be absorbed by your cells both to be used as energy for them, and also to be stored for future use as fat.

Unfortunately, the release of insulin is a very inexact thing, and your body often ends up overshooting the mark, especially when blood sugar has shot up very high very fast (as is the case when eating pure carbs, especially sugar.) This ends up dropping your blood sugar super low, triggering that terrible feeling known as a blood sugar crash. Your body then has to tap into its glucose stores to raise your blood sugar back into the normal range. Something about this process of burning off stores to raise blood sugar appears to sway strongly pink and THIS is what we mean when we say “low blood sugar sways pink”. NOT a number on a monitor, the process of burning off glucose to keep your blood sugar in a normal range rather than too low.

So when pink swayers ask “should I avoid sugar totally for a girl because it will give me high blood sugar” the answer is NO, for most people (the exceptions being people with PCOS, insulin resistance, a history of gestational diabetes, egg quality issues, or more than 30-50 lbs to spare), because eating sugar can actually cause a blood sugar crash that then causes your body to have to burn those stores. And your blood sugar will go up from eating ANYTHING that has carbs, not just sugar anyway – avoiding sugar does NOT keep your blood sugar super low. Eating sugar and having high blood sugar are not the same thing and there is NO WAY to eat any food (other than a keto or Paleo diet, which are bad choices for pink due to their high protein and fat content) without causing your blood sugar to rise. Remember, our goal is NOT to attain some number on a glucose monitor; when we talk about blood sugar, we’re talking about the process by which your body keeps blood sugar in a normal range.

And blue swayers, you don’t need to avoid sugar either. The acid-alkaline diet has been debunked. BUT since the HE Diet is very calorie dense and can cause weight gain, eating sugar is not the best way to “spend” your calories and you’re better off “spending” your calories on things that are nutrient dense – fruit, vegetables, whole grains, full fat dairy, meat, eggs, nuts, that type of thing. Above all else, blue swayers, avoid the patented “Girl Mom Lunch” that so many girl moms ate when they got their girls – a candy bar and a Diet Coke!! Your blood sugar will spike and then plummet forcing your body to burn stores of glucose for you to function – and that process sways strongly pink!

–Oh so I should eat a bunch of sugar for getting a girl then?

We originally set out thinking that maybe one viable strategy to get a girl might entail eating a lot of refined carbs and then enduring blood sugar crashes. This is one of the elements of atomic sagebrush’s “Crash and Burn” Low Everything Diet (we also call this “Standard Low Everything Diet”) – heavy on white carbs like breads, rice, pasta, lower in protein and fat. And animal studies have found that a diet that is heavier in carbs and lower in fat and protein intake is associated with more female offspring conceived.

But over the course of time we found out that in terms of carbs, the white refined grains really haven’t seemed to get any better results than whole grains AND that they were disruptive to fertility for some people, causing PCOS-like symptoms like longer cycles with delayed ovulation and short LP. Others reported anxiety, heartburn, and constipation when eating too many refined grains and too much sugar. Over time we’ve relaxed our suggestions and now allow both white refined grains and whole grains for most people.

–But wait, I have PCOS and am swaying pink and atomic sagebrush TOLD ME I had to avoid sugar!

For anyone with PCOS, insulin resistance, a history of gestational diabetes, concerns about diminished egg quality, 38 and up (particularly 40 and up), and who has more than 30-50 pounds to spare, you need to follow the modified “Slow Burn” LE Diet. You’ll eat whole grains, fruits, and vegetables for carbs and will have slightly higher macros for protein and fat. You will avoid sugar as much as is feasible and have only full fat dairy, because skim and part skim dairy can be bad for blood sugar levels. This will NOT hurt your sway. In fact, if people who have trouble regulating blood sugar were to follow the standard “Crash and Burn” LE Diet it may even sway blue for them. (And if you got a boy on the “Crash and Burn” type of LE Diet, you should sway again using the “Slow Burn” alternate form of the LE Diet.)

This is because with PCOS, IR, gestational diabetes, etc your body is not good at dropping blood sugar after it has risen. So where most people’s blood sugar will quickly drop after spiking from eating refined carbs, people with issues regulating blood sugar will find their levels stay higher longer and their body will never have to burn off those stores of glucose (and that’s the part that sways pink!!!) So they never get the benefits of the Crash and Burn style of LE Diet, and worse still, that high blood sugar sways blue, it wrecks egg quality, and also raises testosterone levels – also possibly swaying blue!

Please follow the diet that is appropriate for YOU. I promise we have gotten equal if not better results with the “Slow Burn” approach. In fact, I would honestly use it for everyone at this point except…

–So does that mean everyone should be on the “Slow Burn” type LE Diet with all the whole grains in it?

While the “Slow Burn” type LE Diet (which has slightly higher protein and fat intake, and whole grains instead of white, refined grains, full fat dairy only, and is sugar free) has gotten good results, it has some downsides to it. It is expensive, much more difficult to implement and stick with, causes people to experience cravings for sugar (since it’s forbidden on “Slow Burn” diets), and the worst part of all, makes weight fly off for a good number of people. The majority of swayers will still end up being on the “Crash and Burn” to prevent excess weight loss.

–But I wanted to be on the Low Everything Diet! Not these weird “BURN” diets.

Both the “Crash and Burn” and the “Slow Burn” are BOTH still LE Diet. They’re just two different versions of the same thing. They have roughly similar nutrient content with just slightly different percentages of certain foods. Again, we’ve gotten just as good, if not better results with the “Slow Burn” form of LE, and you’re not shortchanging your sway in any way, shape or form by following it if it is appropriate for you.

–I don’t understand any of this!! atomic, HELP!

Blood sugar is confusing. It’s ok if you don’t understand it all the way. That’s why I designed the Low Everything and High Everything Diets for you, and it’s why I then went on to make two different forms of the LE Diet – Slow Burn and Crash and Burn. You don’t have to understand a single thing about blood sugar to have a great sway. Just do the diets as written, in the form that is right for you, and your blood sugar will take care of itself!!
